Occupy Wall St. – Antisemitic roots?

The protests on Wall St. and the extended movement in USA are spiced up with many comments on the “Zionists” who lobby in the US and the regime of Israel is also considered to be a cause of the crisis in the US. A message of hate emerges form the heart of the protesters and this message is also racist and biased.

Video made by Emergency Committee for Israel:

Of course, not all of the protesters can be included in this anti-Semitic current. But we don’t know every protester’s opinion on the matter, so all we can say for sure are the following:

-          A part of the protesters have biased convictions against an entire people just because some of the people behind the Wall St. financial collapse were Jews. It’s the most common logical error people make: generalization. Some Jews acted badly, thus all Jews are bad – as if acting in a certain way is dependent upon nationality (sic!).

-          Although the majority of the protesters don’t protest against Jewish people leading the country, the fact that they accept the prejudiced ones affects their image. If you see an evil and don’t take measures, you are a part of its spreading. Those who watch and were not brainwashed by the media’s portraying of Israel in the news will be able to see straight.

-          Lech Walesa, the Nobel prize winner, chose not to support the movement (http://biggovernment NULL.com/aandrzejewsk/2011/10/21/lech-walesa-not-attending-occupywallstreet-in-new-york-after-discovering-hard-left-organizers/)because it is organized and sponsored by antisemitism, communist and other organizations with questionable political views. This is what means to really defend/stick to the basic values of freedom, democracy and equality.

-          What I can see is that part of the protesters has problems identifying the threat to their country, even after 9/11. I am not surprised, since everything the media has done since then was to clearly try to mask the truth about the terrorists that attacked the country. While Obama identifies as a supporter of a group with anti-Semitic roots and manifestations, the administration pulls all training materials that portray Islam as a violent religion (http://www NULL.thegatewaypundit NULL.com/2011/10/obama-administration-pulls-all-training-materials-that-portray-islam-as-a-violent-religion/). The sides Obama is taking are obvious. Considering that nowadays it is not correct to put Islam and terrorism in the same sentence, the only question that remains to be asked is: what if there would have been a percentage of people who would have panels against Islam?! Would Obama still support the movement – the same Obama that was called by Gaddafi (http://www NULL.thegatewaypundit NULL.com/2011/10/flashback-gaddafi-says-obama-is-a-blessing-to-muslim-world-he-is-a-friend-video/)a black man from our continent, an African from Arab descent, from Muslim descent, and this is something we never imagined – that from Reagan we would get to Barakeh Obama.”? As far as I can see, it is correct to have prejudices about nationality, but asserting the evil facts about a religion isn’t.

Antisemitism at OWS

Antisemitism at OWS

I don’t call the movement “anti-Semitic”, even though it was organized by Adbusters (founded by Kalle Lasn – chief editor with anti-Semitic views) or because some participants have anti-Semitic views. I mean, you cannot point at sweeping generalizations and then make the same mistake. I do not call the movement “communist” because some people with communist views showed up at protests.  What I am most interested in is the way other people actually encourage biases by not clearly delimiting themselves from them. Obama and the occupiers agree at least on this issue: it is not important. It is not important enough. At the same time, the OWS manifesto talks about the loss of values and the loss of respect towards the human beings.  If the occupiers have values, they should let the world hear them clearly. If they want democracy, they should be very aware of what communism is and they should make they are not affiliated with the communists. Otherwise, I read nothing on these issues on Occupy Wall St. website.
