US Troops Are Returning Home

After many years of occupying Iraq, finally the United States of America ended the American combat mission in that country.

When the sitting President Barack Obama was still a candidate, he strongly pledged to end the Iraq as soon as possible. And according to that promise, the President made it a point that the time has come for Iraq to stand on its own feet.

Since Obama became the President, there were already almost 100,000 U.S. soldiers who returned home. With all the military bases almost turned over to the Iraqi government, the US troops are finally bidding their farewell today.

The so-called Operation Iraqi Freedom ends today. However, the relationship of both countries will remain the same as US is committed to see a self-governing and self-reliant Iraq to rise on their own feet.

The new order will be under the Operation New Dawn. Under this program, an intermediary force composed of a few U.S. troops will stay put to provide assistance and advice to the fledging Iraqi forces as well as look after our civilians on the ground and do targeted counterterrorism missions. This is just very temporary because they too are scheduled to be at home by the end of 2011.

The President strongly believes that ending the war in Iraq is working for the greater interest of the United States. This statement comes naturally as USA paid an enormous price to lay down the future of Iraq in the very hands of its leaders and people.

USA have already paid our due by deploying our uniformed men and women for huge sacrifices. Aside from sacrificing lives, USA spent vast resources abroad even if it is still facing the effects of economic recession on its backyard.

USA is proud to say that it was able to confront the challenges responsibly and courageously with the resolve of its soldiers on field who are willing to do everything possible in the name of duty even to the point of laying their lives on the line.

For more than seven years in occupying Iraq, we all know how multifaceted and complex the challenges the US military faced in that country are. The time has come indeed for USA to at last withdraw its troops as the work is now the responsibility of the government of Iraq.

According to available figures, almost 1.6 million Americans lay their lives on the dangerous line of duty. As we all know, many returned home after several tours of duty, away from their families and loved ones. And most sadly, there were almost 4,500 Americans who ultimately sacrificed their own lives to the call of duty abroad – all were involved in warfare meant for people they hardly ever knew — for the values defining the American people for more than 200 years.

The country asked from the troops for sacrifices of no small measures and what all of them sacrificed at the end was definitely not simple. Therefore, the country owes to these men and women a salute and heartfelt thank you.

USA will fulfill the promise made to them — to all woman or man who raised our flag – that the country would surely serve them as devotedly as they have served us. Hopefully, the military would be able to successfully complete the integration process.

The country is marking a landmark in the nation’s history. Hopefully, best days are just around the country for the country as it is still battling its own financial crisis brought about by the economic downturn.

Having a group of good and loyal friends played a very vital role in our daily lives. I always remember those days in high school when we were awakened to the importance of friendship. Back in those days, issue with friends occupies a big part of our high school memories.

By the time, we were already in college, of course a lot of things changed either for the better or not. We started to choose the friends we would like to hang out with. In my own personal experience, it was from this time that I really cultivated my current network of friends.

Currently, my network of friends is great one of my greatest supporters with my business. And I am so grateful for them of all the help, advice and ideas contributing to my success in online marketing.

I am not, therefore, surprised when Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health released a study detailing how a network of good and loyal friends can possibly increase an individual’s life span. This report is based on a study of almost 2000 Australians who are already 70 and above in a period of 10 years. This clearly showed the link between relationships and long life.

The study concluded that people having strong network of friends experienced 25 percent less mortality compared to people having few friends. Aside from increasing the life span, active friendships generated optimistic effects among the elderly. This positive attitude is great for combating depression, self-esteem, self-efficacy and low morale.

Friendship contributed much to the sense of personal control – something gradually slipping when a person is getting old. With all of these benefits, it is good if we all build good friendship from the time when we are still young until the time we expires.

Is happiness really something difficult to achieve? Not like with computer software, happiness will never materialize with some mouse clicks here and there. In my professional life dealing with small and big clients in the arena of psychology, I have come to the conclusion that there is some surefire process helping individuals to “automate” the achievement of happiness.

What are these things then? There should solid structures, efficient systems, enough disciplines and clear processes that make happiness automatic or at least semi-automatic. Here are three proven tips that could start you on the process.

1.  Focus on things that are really working. The mind is structured to look for things that are wrong and will try to repair it, stop it or just ignore it.  Unfortunately, our mind does not spend the time looking at what really works.  Why? It is because what really works is not a threat and therefore deserves little attention of your mind.   But focusing on what works is a controlling force that has the potential to generate almost automatic happiness.

2.  Taking the steps to accept things as they really are. According to a famous doctor and author, “Acceptance is the great healer of strife, conflict and upset.”  Under normal circumstances, the human psyche does not focus energy and time for recognizing and accepting things.  Its job is to took notice of many differences and declare the things that are not familiar as threats.  Our mind uses negative feelings to move your body and attention away from what is unknown, different, strange, or unusual.  To achieve automatic happiness you must practice questioning the mind’s motives.  By seeking to accept things, we instantly achieve some degree of peace and happiness.

3.  Don’t believe in everything your mind is thinking. Seeing our mind for what it really is, just an unexplored collection of reactions, you should start to question everything it is doing.  We must be taught to question everything our mind is saying. Now, it might be hard but we have to automatically believing in our thoughts.  And when we do, happiness becomes our natural state.  As another author states it, “Anything other than happiness and peace is just a state of mind.” Nothing could be further from the truth.

In today’s modern world, we must consider that life has structures that create emotions you never designed nor intended.  With full awareness comes real flexibility.  And when we start getting more flexible, there will be new options to appear.  These options give you true power.  And an empowered individual has more chances of getting the happiness they dreamed of.

Nobody should tell you that you can’t be happy because today you can start your path towards the contentment you have been craving for.

There is a very poignant story involving a fisherman and a high-flying businessman. The businessman visited the wharf of a tiny fishing village located in Philippines. While the businessman is viewing the place, a small boat carrying one fisherman slowly made its way to dock.  The fisherman caught some large yellowfin tuna which is prized for its meat.

Upon seeing the good catch, the businessman made some flattering remarks for the fisherman especially on the value of his fish and inquired how long it took him to catch them. The Filipino fisherman casually replied that it took him just 4 hours to have it.

Seeing the potential of profits, the businessman then posed another question why he choose not to stay out a little longer and catch additional fish.  The fisherman answered back that it is quite adequate to sustain his family’s direct needs.

The businessman then further inquired the fisherman on what he is using for the rest of his time? The Filipino fisherman then said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my kids, take a nap with my wife, Carla Millesa, wander into the village in the evening where I drink some wine and of course have fun with my close friends. I have a jam-packed and hectic life, sir.”

The businessman taunted, “You see, I have an international degree in business management and I could offer some advice to you for free. Why not spend additional time fishing and with more profits generated go ahead and purchase a bigger boat? And because you are earning much more with the bigger boat, you should buy several more boats.  Ultimately, you should gun for having your own fleet of fishing boats making money for you day in and ay out. Under these circumstances, it would now be possible to bypass the middlemen and sell directly to the processor. From there on, you can plan to build your own cannery. At the end, you are controlling all the aspects of the product, processing and even distribution. As you become a big businessman yourself, you can already move to the capital of this country and from there direct your empire.”

The fisherman is astonished at the vision presented unto him. So he asked, “But sir, how long do you think all of these to take?”

And the businessman replied back, “Maybe around 15 to 20 years.” “And after that, what then, sir?” The question elicits laughter form the businessman and he answered, “That’s the greatest part! With your own business getting bigger, surely some investors would be willing to pour in their money. You can plan to sell stocks to interested investors and in the process take the money and become very wealthy beyond your own imagination. You can a millionaire many times over.”

“Millions, sir? Then what?”

The businessman comes back with the answer, “Then it is time to retire. You can move back to a small coastal fishing village you like and sleep late, fish a little, play with your children or grandchildren, take a relaxed afternoon nap with your loved ones, stroll to the village anytime you want and sip a local wine with your friends.”

Smiling, the fisherman looked into the eyes of the businessman and, “Isn’t that what I am enjoying right now?”

The fisherman got a point. How do we really measure success? How do we define success? And most importantly, what do we want to do with success?

Are there any health benefits generated by praying? While not all people are affiliated with any religious organizations, in USA over 90% of people polled have some form of belief on God.

Traditionally, when a person got sick or aching one of the natural reaction is to pray.  So does it really works?  Currently, studies are made to verify the role of prayer plays in the overall health of a person. The alternative to the conventional treatments it seems is based on the combined physical and spiritual factors.  Studies are also underway looking for some possibilities of how prayer can be a good substitute to or at least enhances some medical procedures.

We now know the logic behind the fact that prayer can improve one’s mental health. Faith on a divine being or higher power induces a patient to adopt more optimism in his/her condition and could affect the immune system. A good immune system plays a very critical role in one’s general health. This is something already given.

Prayer in particular and faith in general can alleviate stress experienced by a person. People who have good prayer habits usually have a bigger support community of people having the same mind and beliefs. Prayer therefore becomes a medium to muster the power of that community for the health benefits of the person who needs it the most.

So the next question should be dealing with the physical type of healing and not just the emotional side of it. There are now studies on this particular concern and have divided this into at least three sub-topics. The first group was given no prayers. The second one got prayers and was told all about. The last group had prayers all right and advised that they may or may not obtain them.  Take note that this blind type of study was questionable because it would be impossible to ascertain if patients were praying themselves silently or if the outside family or friends were praying for them.

With the existence of various unconventional therapy choices, prayer advocates are convincing others to use prayer as it is not going to hurt anybody in anyway.  Well, this could be true. Praying is free and it does not take a lot of time and effort.

Personally, I believe that together with the typical medical methods prayers can be of big benefits to a person’s health.  Looking back at the ancient history, we must remember that even the medical field was founded as a type of religion or part of the religion. And early doctors and nurses were acting as religious leaders.

Because studies remain inconclusive, it is still not recommended to use prayer in lieu of other medical treatments.  You can further discuss this concern with your doctor and faith leaders if you want to incorporate prayers with your medical treatments. However, on the personal level you have all the freedom to pray all the time and anywhere so as long as you are not hindering other people’s rights to also pursue their beliefs.

Prayers can make a person more optimistic and forward-looking in life!

In any given year, there is a projected 27 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and above – that is 1 in 4 adults – who are suffering from what psychiatrists called as diagnosable mental disorder. Out of the general population, that is almost 60 million individuals.

One of the reasons for diagnosable mental disorders is stress. People who are having GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) to panic disorder can be significantly relieved if they will simply lessen the stress they are having.

Though it is true that stress is very normal in our lives, letting it control us could be detrimental to our overall emotional and even physical health. As consequences, serious problems could materialize out of thin air once stress took over.

Thankfully, stress can be controlled and eventually overcome by following some proven and simple steps. Stress is defined as an inner reaction sets off by outside factors like losing a job, financial mess, health concerns, etc.

Regular exercise routine. Getting your own daily exercise plan can help a lot in reducing stress. As you are doing the exercise, your body learns to manipulate stress by improving tolerance. Take a break. One key to lessening the impact of stress is scheduling a time off and going for purely relaxing and pleasurable activities. This is effectively winding up your day! Maybe it is time to go for a vacation you have been planning a long time ago. Just have fun. By having a particular time to have fun together with your loved ones, friends or just by your own, you are recharging your physical and mental reservoirs.

Reorient your thinking. In reality, it is not so much with stress but how we are reacting to stress that matters most. Therefore, reorient your kind of thinking. View those problems differently. When you keep on worrying on many things big or small, you are taxing your emotional balance. It would be necessary that you learn how to manage and control your central thought processes so as to eventually win the battle inside of you.

It can be said that people of my lineage were extremely proud of their knack to roll up their sleeves and do a hard work to bring in daily food on the table – as well as clothing and shelter. For these generations, hard work was considered to the epitome of living. People then got no resentment – as they took hard work as natural as breathing or sleeping.

Because of this orientation of my ancestors, I came to know that nothing is free in life. Once I desire for something, I got to grind and work for it. Sure, this kind of spirit build our nation and we should be proud of the great contributions our forebears sacrificed for us.  It is simply foolishness if we try to weaken the achievements of those who pioneered the way for all of us.

As we probe more deeply into Law of Attraction philosophy, the more we grasp that there is another way. Though some would describe it as a better way, it is simply an alternate conduit to the same goal. And what is this alternate path? It is ALLOWING.

As we all know, action or implementation is a must at the foundation levels of conscious creation. It is imperative that should learn the right ways to visualize our desires, affirm our belief, up our vibrations and come into the right configuration with the goals so it can manifest in our lives. We have to take action in order for the new circumstances to form into reality. For instance, we could harder to accumulate more wealth or join a dating site to supposedly meet the right partner for life. Surely, these actions are still relevant and may even be critical. However, we have to modify our belief that the only way to make our desires come true is to “do” something.

Let the idea of allowing come in into the picture. Consider this scenario: after all the visualization, affirmation and expression – we just simply let go! Will there be something to happen. Using physical-plane logic, it would be easy to assume that nothing will ever transpire.  We must ALLOW the power of the universe to manifest precisely what we really desire. This is exactly the enormous beauty and potential of the Law of Attraction. We have the choice not to make things happen by ourselves alone — we can plainly let the great universe bring our desires formed and smartly wrapped in a beautiful big package with a ribbon on top.

Let us discuss on ways to “allow.” And there are basically three critical factors to allowing:

1) No more leaning heavily on the “how.” Certainly, this could sound to be against the very nature of the creation process as we stop maneuvering the results. Well, at the beginning, yes. But eventually we will realize that the more we manipulate the outcome, the less for things to be in our side. By deliberately skipping the HOW, the great universe will manifest our aspirations and affirmed the outcome we wanted. In fact, there’s no more call to beg, manipulate, or control the many factors involved they are already in their finest and perfect form. Just simply let go and rely that the universe will bring it to us in the most beautiful and advantageous ways possible.

2) Blot out the concept of the “when.” Naturally, this is quite hard to do because we all want things to be done or given to us right here and then. It seems that people don’t want to wait for divine intervention or something similar.  We should know that the very impatience we are manifesting can derail the very process we want to speed up!  You might be asking, why? Wanting it right now, we put ourselves into “wanting.” Remember that we produce what we focus on the most! Focus on wanting – and we generate more want. By using affirmation that our desires will eventually manifest at precise time sequences, we involuntarily focus more on trust and faith. If we start believing deeply that our heart’s desires are coming to us, then they come more promptly.

3) Always be thankful. Though it is hard to appreciate when we’re not fulfilled with our lives, , it’s all circled around the things we focus on and attracts with. Get this orientation on your consciousness: the more we appreciate, the more we magnet beautiful things to come to us.  Start with something tiny and obvious. Every day when you awake, say aloud something like, “I am glad for the opportunity to live one more day. I appreciate all the convenience I experienced last night.  I’m thankful for the hot shower and clean clothes I have today.” While we are grinding our day, let’s pause to appreciate the things all working for our benefits – that is, no matter how small or inconsequential it may seem. After repeating this process over and over again, you are inculcating to yourself the mindset of gratitude mindset. And this mindset will soon start attracting additional things to appreciate.

Does this mean that there is no need to work hard?  Can we just sit back and “allow” the universe to deliver everything to our doorstep? Answer: yes  and no. After you master the concept of allowing – you need to take inspired actions.  After we willfully expressed our desires and aspirations to the benevolent universe and we successfully begun “allowing” them into our lives, the universe will show us the way towards what we want – instead of just expecting the blessings to literally fall from heavens.

As illustrations of this point, some people might be stimulated to set up a business, buy a winning lottery ticket, go to an inspiring lecture, read a book, or any other actions. If we start acting as quick as we can, circumstances usually alter its course leading for opportunities to emerge. In most cases, these opportunities generate opening that lead for our desires to manifest plainly, simply, and speedily.

Please take note that an inspired action must never be agonizing or hard. On the contrary, it must be magnificent and stimulating – meaning you should feel excited and enthusiastic to do it. This is the way to know if a specific action is an inspired one.

Let go, relax, and start allowing the creation course to unfurl exactly as it should.  If you feel the inspiration to do something – then utilize that opportunity to do it. Otherwise, you have to trust that the universe has something good ahead for you.

Believe and you will start to reap the fruits of your faith!

We all have dreams – small, big or something in between! Maybe you dreamed to be an extraordinary somebody someday. Or maybe you fiercely imagined being the one who hits the jackpot of the game. What about becoming the queen even for a night? A lot of people are wishing to find their perfect mate. All over the world, people of all ages and races are dreaming of finally getting rich, successful and happy at the same time.

Most of the time, we all have big dreams – lofty desires even bigger than life.  Alas, there is never a guarantee that our dreams can come true. As a general rule rather than an exemption, dreams all stay just that! And once frustrations set in, dreams are just forgotten into thin air! What a pity!

Life has a tendency not to make things work out for us. Events can turn sour. Rather than getting exhilarating journey in self-actualization, we are unfortunately get trapped in the monotonous of everyday living characterized by just scarcely existing. No wonder that as we get older, we tend to accept that dreams are just for the young ones and the innocent. But can this really be reversed?

Yes, I think so. Successful people no matter how few showed the way that it can be done. We have enough information and resources to inspire us to reignite that passion for our dreams! Indeed, we all deserve a much better and we could only have it if we take the steps forward to change our course and aim higher.

Do you believe in the word “impossible”? If so, then it can be a big hindrance in getting what you want in life. Once you think you can not do it, and then anything becomes impossible for you. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can not do it, that it is difficult or that you can not be a success! Don’t believe in impossible!

I just can’t imagine if our civilization was founded on impossibility! What kind of world do you think we have right now without the pioneering and impossible-breaking spirit of our forefathers?  All the inventions, innovations and breakthroughs of human accomplishments are all borne out of believing that it is possible.

On the other side, millions of people are into dreaming totally extreme dreams but never doing anything them. What kind of results would then ensue? Yes, the usual broken dreams and torn aspirations. History only loves people who broke the barriers and soar higher than eagles could possibly fly! We all deserve to free our spirit and make this world a much better place to live!

Once you confine your life with self-doubt and belittle your innate capabilities, it would be impossible to make the necessary breakthroughs. Try this method. Get a piece of paper and jot down important goals in your life. Below one header, record down the things ‘you are sure you can do’. Below another header, write the things ‘you maybe capable of doing.’ And lastly, list the things that that are ‘impossible for you to accomplish.’

Now study all the headers and do your best every day to achieve the goals that are under things ‘you are sure you can do’. Confirm them by the time you successfully accomplish them. As you continue on this exercise and gradually able to check all of your goals under that first heading, aim to get the goals under the other headers as well.

Your eyes will be opened to the fact that the goals you thought were impossible at first can become easier to bring into reality. Now the impossible things emerge as very possible after all. As you will realize, the system here is not to bind your imagination. Instead, we got to aim higher by working headed those goals gradually. But then, you should know how to recognize goals that are truly unrealistic.

People who just dream dreams and not working steadfastly towards those dreams will eventually end up disenchanted and cynical. Shifting the story, if you announce a hundred years ago that it was probable for man to walk on the moon, most probably you would just solicit laughter and raised eyebrows. And if you had told others that there will come a time that it would be possible to send messages from part of the globe to the other side in a matter of just few seconds, they might just dismissed you as a lunatic. But come to think of it – we all know these as present realities! However, it must be pointed out that those dreams came into fruition with the use of sheer hard work and determination!

Sir Thomas Edison was famously quoted as saying that a genius is just 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. And it is true. To accomplish dreams, one must have enough industry and self-discipline. We have to think big. And focus ourselves and our resources to get those dreams into reality. Always remember of this fact: “No pain, no gain”?

You have to continue dreaming. Never be persuaded by your assumed limitations. Think bigger than yourself and put up the necessary effort to conquer those dreams.
